Coal Ministry adopted new technology for coal exploration to cover larger area in short time

NEW DELHI: The government is not regulating the consumption of coal. Coal India Limited (CIL) has provided more coal during the current fiscal (up to November’21) in comparison to last year’s same period. During April-November’21, CIL has dispatched coal to the tune of 421.11 Million tonnes in comparison to last year’s same period figures of 357.13 achieving growth of about 18%. SCCL has dispatched coal to the tune of 42.47 Million tonnes in comparison to last year’s same period figures of 26.52 achieving growth of about 60%.

Two sub-schemes viz. Detailed exploration and Promotional (regional) exploration is continuing through the Central sector scheme by the Ministry of Coal for exploration of coal and lignite. Ministry of Coal has adopted the new technology of 2D/ 3D coupled with drilling for exploration coal to cover a larger area in a short span of time. 1.9 Lakh meter in detailed drilling, 1.5 Lakh meter in promotional drilling, and 300 Line Km of 2D/3D seismic survey has been targeted in the year 2021-22 by Coal Mine Planning & Design Institute (CMPDIL).

Union Minister of Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs Shri Pralhad Joshi yesterday in his written reply in LokSabha gave this information.
