‘Deaf and dumb’ thief held for stealing electronic gadgets

A suspect posing to be deaf and dumb, was nabbed for allegedly stealing valuables from residences situated in Sushant Lok-I in Sector-43, police stated on Thursday. The suspect is part of a gang from Tamil Nadu that operates throughout the Delhi-NCR area, together with Gurugram, police added.

Deputy commissioner of police (east) Virender Vij stated that not less than 10 cast certificates issued in Tamil Nadu have been recovered from the suspect which confirmed him to be deaf and dumb.

“The suspect saved appearing to be deaf and dumb for nearly an hour by making hand gestures after his arrest. However when interrogated sternly, he began talking and confessed his crime. He even spoke Hindi,” DCP Vij stated.

The suspect has been recognized as Jagdish Govindan (23), hails from Vellore in Tamil Nadu. Police stated he had stolen three laptops from a home on April 12 and one other laptop computer and a cell phone from one other home on Might 25.

DCP Vij stated that Govindan was arrested from close to Gold Souk mall in Block-C on June 6. “He has disclosed particulars of one in every of his confederate. He used to offer the stolen gadgets to him for dispatching them to Vellore through practice with the assistance of different members,” the DCP added.

Poonam Kumari, station home officer (SHO) of Sushant Lok police station, stated the gang members bought the devices in Vellore.
