In August. Sony indicated that it wasn’t concerned about a recent decline in PlayStation Plus subscribers and monthly active users.

In the company’s Q1 financial results, which cover the three months ended June 30, Sony reported total PS Plus subscribers of 46.3 million, which was up 1.3 million year-on-year but down by over one million compared to the two previous quarters.

According to eight years of data collated by Resetera, it was the first time PlayStation Plus users had significantly dipped between quarters during this time period.

Sony’s chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki blamed the decline on last year’s stay-at-home restrictions and the increase they had on game activity.

PlayStation Plus subscribers rose by almost one million during Q2, to 47.2 million, Sony said in October.
