San Francisco: Twitter CEO Elon Musk said Saturday that if the microblogging platform is removed from app stores, he will produce “alternative” smartphones to compete with Apple and Android devices.
It all started when one user tweeted: “If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would like to get rid of the biased, snoopy iPhone and Android. The man is building rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?”
Musk replied, “I certainly hope it doesn’t come to that, but yes, if there is no other choice, I will build an alternative phone.”
Several users shared their thoughts on Musk’s post.
While one commented, “I bet it’s going to revolutionize smartphones,” another said, “I kinda feel like this plan is already in the works.”
Meanwhile, Twitter’s CEO said on Friday that the microblogging platform is expected to restart the “verified” service next week on Friday and all verified accounts will be “manually authenticated before verification is enabled.”
Musk had previously halted its $8 Blue verified subscription service after facing chaos on the platform when fake blue badge accounts impersonated real accounts after paying $8, and said he would discontinue using it from March 29 November will start again – this time “rock solid”.
