CES 2023 is underway and the tech news and announcements are flying in.

Companies often release news at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and this year was no different. As usual, the big conference also featured some pretty interesting gadgets and innovations. Mashable is on the ground in Vegas covering the latest news. We’ve summarized everything that’s happened so far and will update as more information comes in.

Vehicles in 2023 are basically moving computers, which means the auto tech at this year’s CES was definitely impressive. Mashable’s Alex Perry wrote about the best car tech at CES 2023, including the Android Auto facelift and Harman’s AR-based Ready Vision.

There was a lot of cool gaming gear at CES this year. Mashable’s Alex Perry rounded up some of the best gaming tech from the convention, including Sony’s accessible controller and a gaming headrest with haptic feedback.

Delta Airlines will offer free WiFi on most domestic flights

Delta unveiled some big news for frequent flyers at CES 2023: The airline will soon offer free WiFi on most domestic flights. About 80 percent of its fleet will offer free Wi-Fi by February. The catch, however, is that you must be a member of the SkyMiles frequent flyer program to access the free WiFi.

John Deere continues to revolutionize farming

John Deere — yes, the green and yellow tractor company — unveiled some of the most innovative products at CES 2023. It showed the ExactShot, its robotic fertilizer system and its new electric excavator. The ExactShot uses sensors and robotics to place fertilizer exactly where it’s needed, rather than just continuously dumping it. The electric excavator, on the other hand, produces zero emissions without sacrificing performance.

“Why would you care about farmers when they make up less than 2 percent of the US population?” said John May, CEO of John Deere, at a CES keynote. “You won’t find two industries that have had a greater impact on our world and all of us than agriculture and construction.”

Android accompanies Apple in the satellite-supported SMS future

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon Satellite at CES 2023, which will effectively allow people buying new Android phones later this year to send two-way text messages via satellites. The idea is that the feature could be useful for people who need to communicate but don’t have cellular coverage.

Android automatically transfers music from your car to the phone

Google introduced a new feature at CES 2023 called uninterrupted listening, which automatically moves your current music or podcast from one device to the next based on where you are. For users committed to the Android ecosystem, this means you can, for example, leave your car and automatically transfer your music playback to your phone.

Razer designed a pillow that lets you feel your game

The gaming peripherals brand announced that it is making a head pad that attaches to your gaming chair and provides haptic feedback tied to the game you’re playing. Details on price and availability were not yet available.

Android Auto is getting a facelift

The Android experience in the car has been fundamentally revised, Google announced at CES 2023. Changes include: bringing the map view closer to the driver, a quick launcher for frequently used apps, and a progress bar for podcasts and songs.

BMW introduces a color-changing car

BMW showed off its concept car, the i Vision Dee, which would allow drivers to switch and mix 32 different colors on the car.

Sony announces its EV car “Afeela”.

Sony announced at CES 2023 that it is teaming up with Honda to build an electric car, dubbed the Afeela. It will have a bunch of cool features like a display built into the front bumper. It is scheduled for delivery in 2026.

Lenovo shows a headset-free Metaverse

Tech powerhouse Lenovo has launched a number of products, perhaps the strangest of which was a headset-free Metaverse device. Project Chronos, as it is codenamed, would capture a person’s movements down to their facial expressions so that they could take part in an event taking place in a virtual environment.

The robot for caring for the elderly

Aeolus Robotics showed off its cute robot called Aeo, designed to perform tasks like disinfecting surfaces, opening doors and carrying objects. It even takes selfies. Oh… and thanks to its 360-degree night vision camera, it can also act as a security guard – a little less playful.

The Ring Car Cam is finally available

After some delays and false starts, customers can now pre-order a Ring Car Cam. Amazon’s popular security company has created a camera with a dual-facing camera, intrusion detection, and the ability to check into your car through the Ring app.

The headband that helps you fall asleep

The Frenz Brainband connects to your phone and uses AI to curate audio and soothing sounds specifically designed to support your sleep. It learns from your heart rate and other data, which helps you relax and perform better over time.

Sony has announced its first accessible PlayStation controller

Sony plans to release a controller that will help people with disabilities, the company announced at CES 2023. Codenamed “Project Leonardo” will be customizable to address common issues faced by players with limited motor control.

Samsung previews TV mode for the visually impaired

At CES 2023, Samsung introduced a mode called Relumino Mode that will help people with limited or poor eyesight. Relumino mode emphasizes outlines, sharpens contrast and enhances colors for better on-screen visibility.

Sony previews the film version of Gran Turismo

Sony showed a trailer for Gran Turismo, The video game based film starring David Harbour, Orlando Bloom and Darren Barnet.

TCL shows new AR glasses

TCL introduced its new augmented reality glasses at CES 2023. Mashable’s Christianna Silva called the glasses – which can display GPS navigation and automatic translation along with call and message notifications – “big, blocky and very cool”.

Volkswagen covered its new electric vehicle with QR codes

Yes, you read it right. Apparently, the codes will act as a customizable digital display for the car, which is due to launch in 2026.

Panasonic’s cup holder-sized air purifier for your vehicle

At CES 2023, Panasonic introduced the X Portable Air Purifier, a travel mug-sized device that fights odors and air pollutants. It fights food odors, pet dander and inhibits viruses and mold.

LG debuts on esthetic refrigerator

LG showed more features of its MoodUp fridge at CES 2023, including the ability for panels to change color or become transparent with a simple tap.

LG shows off its wireless portless TV

Imagine your TV flush against the wall or on a stand with no cables showing. That’s the future LG envisions with its 93-inch LG M3 TV, which it showed at CES 2023. The catch: the cables and connections are Hidden in a wireless receiver box.

Roku enters TV production

Roku announced at CES 2023 that it will start making its own TVs, ranging from 24-inches to 75-inches, all priced under $999. While Roku has licensed its operating system to TV manufacturers like TCL for years, it will now make its own affordable TVs running the popular Roku software.

HARMAN transforms your car into Iron Man’s suit

Samsung’s HARMAN unveiled two cool driver safety features at CES 2023. One called Ready Vision projects AR images onto your windshield – meaning directional information can actually appear in your field of view. Samsung has launched a live streaming oven

For the chef who is always online, Samsung has launched an oven that can live stream the inside of your oven. The Bespoke AI Wall Oven can take pictures or stream your food via an internal camera as it cooks.
