Free PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games announced for January 2023

PlayStation Plus free games for the Extra and Premium tiers have been announced for January 2023.

The middle and upper ranks will add new games for subscribers to play from Tuesday January 17th.

Extra offers users a library of hundreds of games to download on PS4 and PS5, turning on and off like a video streamer. Premium expands the library even further with remasters and retro titles, including “new” emulated versions of PS1 and PSP games.

Games listed as PS5/PS4 have native versions for both systems, but games listed as PS4 only are fully playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility and are sometimes enhanced with better performance, graphics and load times.

lead the extra pack is Devil May Cry 5 (PS4) and Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition (PS5).

The latest in the series of stylish demon slaying action games features three characters with different playstyles to switch between in over 20 blood-soaked levels. special edition goes even further with an additional character, faster gameplay and a mode where the number of enemies on the screen is enough Dynasty warriors levels.

Next is Dragon Ball Fighter Z (PS4), an acclaimed 3v3 fighting game based on the legendary anime and manga. Highly stylized graphics mix with lightning-fast combat, and while there’s not much storyline, there’s a fun new villain and plenty of interaction that fans will love.

A PS5 version of Dragon Ball Fighter Z was announced but we don’t know when it will be out or if it will be a freebie for people who have the game through Plus.

life is strange (PS4) and its prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm (PS4) focuses on queer romance as it presents players with difficult choices in both romantic and dangerous scenarios. The original game throws in time travel powers for an extra wrinkle.

Elsewhere we have zombie shoot em up Previous 4 blood (PS5/PS4), laid-back space explorer Jett: The far shore (PS5/PS4), Open World Blast Athon Just Cause 4: Reloaded (PS4), quiet puzzler Omno (Ps4) and Live Action Interactive Thriller Erika (PS4).

One game that is definitely not part of the January lineup is Sayonara Wild Hearts. Simogo’s music-based action hit – with narration by Queen Latifah – was announced in Sony’s original post, but the company later clarified that this was a mistake.

On January 17th bonus Subscribers will receive three PS1 games: third-person action shooter Siphon filter 3Galaxy far far away based vehicle combat game Star Wars Destruction, and sports simulations Everyone’s Golf 2 (known as Hot Shots Golf 2 if you live in the US).

Several games are also leaving the service as new ones arrive.

These games are: Bound by Flame, The Council, Electronic super joy, Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek, The Last Tinkerer: City of Colors, Leo’s net worth, Master of the Anima, seasons after fall, Shine: The Kingdom of Lightningand Space Hulk: Tactics.
