Fujitsu Limited today announced plans to open a new research and development center in Tel Aviv to accelerate the recruitment of world-class talent to drive innovation in data and security, an urgent priority for business and society in an era of increasing connectivity and Uncertainty.
From April 2023, the newly established office in Tel Aviv will allow Fujitsu to further expand its presence in Israel with a team of Israeli experts and researchers from Japan and Europe. This team will be dedicated to strengthening security technology for communication networks as part of Fujitsu’s global strategy for data and security, one of the five key technology areas of the company’s global R&D strategy.
With the establishment of the “Fujitsu Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in Israel” at Ben Gurion University of the Negev (Ben Gurion University) in 2021, Fujitsu took its first steps to unlock the innovative potential of Israeli technology talent to enter research to tap AI technology to make it safer.
Vivek Mahajan, CTO of Fujitsu Limited, who visited Israel to oversee the establishment of the new centre, commented: “As one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world, Israel offers Fujitsu a concentration of talent and an environment to foster innovation like no other to promote. I look forward to recruiting more local researchers to our Tel Aviv team and contributing to our mission of bringing security and trust to network technologies and further deepening our collaboration with Ben Gurion University. I anticipate that our newly established teams in Israel will work alongside our global research network to play a central role in the development of Fujitsu’s future security and AI technologies.”
During his stay in Israel, Fujitsu CTO Vivek Mahajan will be the guest of the Foreign Trade Administration of the Ministry of Economy and the Israel Export Institute and will be a speaker at the 2022 HLS&CYBER Conference and Exhibition. He is expected to speak on a panel focused on the topic: Shaping the Future: AI & Robotics in Law Enforcement.

In order to build relationships with new, diverse stakeholders around the world, it will be important to ensure reliable information that serves as the basis for trust in the digital space. To this end, Fujitsu is working on developing new technologies that can secure trust based on physical information in real space, such as data sources. By combining the expertise of Ben-Gurion University and other institutions in the field of cyber and network security with the trust technology and know-how of our company, we will undertake research into realizing trust for new network security combining real and digital technologies, and the results apply globally.

Fujitsu will contribute to solving societal problems by globally implementing technologies that are expected to be used in a variety of situations including autonomous driving, self-checkout, and public security, including anti-attack technologies for object detection by AI information such as position and nature of a specific object from video data, while promoting synergies between local experts and researchers from Europe and Japan.
