As the Indian Gadget Awards return in their third edition, it’s time to identify the best performing gadgets across all categories. smartpHones under Rs 50,000 were once called flagship killers. This is a premium segment where we see smartphones with top specifications. In 2022, a few more features have been added to the phones in this segment. The charging speed increased to 150 W, the camera megapixels increased to 200 MP and the performance level reached new highs. Popular brands like OnePlus, iQOO, Nothing, Samsung, etc. have been very popular in this segment. In 2022 these brands have launched some phones under Rs 50,000 which our prestigious jury nominated for Indian Gadget Awards (IGA) 2022. The IGA 2022 will take place on January 31st and the winners will be announced on the same day.

Nothing phone (1)
Carl Pei’s latest startup Nothing probably caused the loudest buzz on social media for its very first phone launch. The Nothing Phone (1) made a statement with its glyph lights and transparent back. Under the hood, the device is powered by a Snapdragon 778G+ processor. It features a 6.55-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone draws power from the 4,500mAh battery unit with support for 33W fast charging, 15W wireless Charging and 5W reverse wireless charging. As for the software, the phone (1) runs on Nothing OS based on Android 12 with almost not many bloatware apps.
In the camera department, the Nothing Phone (1) sports dual rear cameras with a 50MP primary snapper (Sony IMX766) and a 50MP ultra-wide lens (Samsung JN1). On the front is a 16MP Sony IMX471 selfie snapper.
OnePlus 10T 5G
The OnePlus 10T is the company’s middle child, sitting between the OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus 10R. Only three phones in India support 150W fast charging, and the OnePlus 10T 5G is one of them. Charging aside, the phone itself is a performance monster as it’s powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset coupled with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It’s the company’s first major flagship without the iconic alarm slide. It features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
In terms of cameras, the OnePlus 10T has a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP IMX766 main camera. This is joined by an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro snapper. The phone has a 16 MP selfie camera on the front. The phone boots OxygenOS 12.1 based on Android 12.
iQOO 9T
The iQOO 9T is the company’s first T-series phone in India. It was launched to take on the OnePlus 10T 5G. Its iconic BMW Motorsport design looks unique and sets it apart from the OnePlus 10T. The device features one of Qualcomm’s most powerful chipsets, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The phone comes with a 4,700 mAh battery and supports 120W fast charging. It runs Android 12 based Funtouch OS 12 out of the box.
It features a large 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone features a 50MP Samsung GN5 main camera sensor, a 13MP ultrawide camera and a 12 MP telephoto camera with up to 20x digital zoom. There is a 16MP front camera for selfies. The 9T 5G is also equipped with Vivo’s V1+ chip to improve camera performance.
Motorola Edge 30 Fusion
The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion has an elegant design on the back. The company recently launched a new color, Viva Magenta, in partnership with Pantone. The device features a 6.55-inch 10-bit OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution, 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. Under the hood of the Edge 30 Fusion is an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. The handset comes preinstalled with Android 12. The smartphone is supported by a 4400mAh battery unit and 68W fast charging support. It offers a triple rear camera setup that includes a 50MP primary shooter with OIS support, a 13MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP depth sensor. It is equipped with a 32 MP front shooter.
Realme GT 2 Pro
The Realme GT 2 Pro is the company’s highest-end offering in India. The phone has a very aesthetic and attractive design on the back. It features the world’s first bio-based smartphone design made from a biopolymer material. Additionally, it’s the only phone on the list to offer a Quad HD+ resolution display. It features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection.
The Realme GT 2 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and boots Realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12. The Realme flagship is supported by a 5,000 mAh battery unit and 65W fast charging support. It has a triple rear camera that includes a 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor, a 50 MP ultra wide-angle Samsung Isocell JN1 sensor and a 2 MP microscopic sensor with 40x zoom. For selfies and video calls, the GT 2 Pro uses a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor.
Realme GT Neo 3
Another Realme phone on the list is the Realme GT Neo 3. The phone stood out due to its super-fast charging speed of 150W, which can charge the battery in just 17 minutes. It boasts a 6.7-inch Full HD+ 120Hz AMOLED display and under the hood it is powered by the Dimensity 8100 processor. In the optics department, the phone packs a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro camera. There’s also a 16 MP selfie camera.
The device is available in two battery and charging configurations: a 5,000mAh battery + 80W fast charge and a 4,500mAh battery + 150W fast charge. The phone launches the Android 12 based Realme UI 3.0 out of the box.
OPPO Reno8 Pro 5G
The OPPO Reno8 Pro 5G is a balanced device from the company, the highlights of which are the display and the camera features. It features a 6.7 inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The display also boasts a 120Hz refresh rate. The handset is powered by the latest MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max processor along with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. In terms of optics, it offers a triple camera setup on the rear with a combination of a 50MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro shooter. For selfies, the phone has a 32-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The phone is charged by a 4,500mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC fast charge support. The device boots ColorOS 12.1 based on Android 12.
Vivo V25 Pro
The Vivo V Series has always been about design and the V25 Pro 5G is no different. The Vivo V25 Pro retains the color-changing Fluorite AG lens design of its predecessor, the Vivo V23 Pro. It has a curved Full HD+ AMOLED display with a screen diagonal of 6.56 inches. The device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor. It has a 4,830mAh battery unit and supports 66W fast charging. The smartphone boots FunTouchOS 12 based on Android 12.
The latest V series smartphone comes with a triple rear camera setup that includes a 64MP primary shooter with OIS support and an f/1.89 aperture. The Vivo handset’s high-resolution sensor is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. It includes a 32MP front shooter for selfies and video calls.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G is still one of the budget devices to buy. It could be the last device in the FE series as Samsung is said to be discontinuing its series. The phone has a simple, aesthetic design and is available in four stunning colors – Olive, Lavender, White and Graphite. It features a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate.
It packs a 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Under the hood is an Exynos 2100 chip. The phone is waterproof to IP68. It runs Android 12 based OneUI 4.0 out of the box.
The device has a 12-megapixel triple camera on the back with support for optical image stabilization (OIS). The main sensor is accompanied by a 12 MP ultrawide sensor with a field of view of 123 degrees and an 8 MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom and up to 30x space zoom.
