Candy Crush maker King has announced it will be retiring the mobile game Crash Bandicoot On the Run early next year.
Launched globally in March 2021, the endless runner will close its servers on February 16, 2023, after which the game will no longer be playable.
And starting today, December 18, all in-app purchases will be disabled, King said. For all purchases made, players have until February 16, 2023 to use the accompanying Purple Crystals in-game.
Crash Team Rumble – Trailer revealed
“It meant so much bringing your favorite Crash characters to life and we genuinely loved making this game,” King said in a statement. “Thank you for spending your time with us and we hope you will join us at one of our many other games.”
After months of speculation, a new Crash Bandicoot console game was announced earlier this month at The Game Awards. The game, developed by Crash Bandicoot 4 Studio Toys For Bob, will be called Crash Team Rumble.
The game is a team-based platformer where players control either the heroes or villains in a “team vs. team rumble.”
“Join the heroes and villains of the Crash universe as they go head-to-head in an epic team vs. team wumpa island-hopping championship,” reads the game’s official blurb.
