Wonder‘s Spiderman 2The sequel to Insomniac Games’ PlayStation-exclusive 2018 blockbuster will be coming to PlayStation 5 in fall 2023, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on Thursday.
The launch window was unveiled in an overall preview of the major games and products coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 over the next year. “Next year will be just as exciting as we always are Marvel’s Spiderman 2 ready for release next fall,” Creative Director Bryan Intihar said in a brief statement on PlayStation Blog.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was originally announced during the PlayStation Showcase in September 2021 (along with Marvel’s wolverine, which has no start date or window). The game will star both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their Spider-Man personas; Morales was the star of the 2020 spin-off, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Moraleswhose story took place when Parker was away from New York on assignment for a photojournalist.
Ultra-villain Venom, hinted at at the end of Marvel’s Spider-Manwill play a big role Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac revealed last year. In the first game, Spidey takes on virtually every other major villain from the hero’s 60-year comic series. The game’s critical and commercial success led to Sony Interactive Entertainment eventually acquiring Insomniac Games after a long, exclusive development partnership with PlayStation.
