Nintendo hosted its latest Indie World presentation, giving a high-profile debut or a fresh look at a whole host of promising upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch. From relaxing games to high-octane pixel platformers, there was something for everyone. And if you’re itching for something new so much that you can’t wait to get your hands on some great games, then there’s good news: some of them are available right now. RIP your wallet.
As an indie world presentation, this one focused solely on third-party games – and more narrowly, third-party games made by independent teams. So we haven’t heard anything about Nintendo’s own initial releases like the long MIA Advance Wars, upcoming releases like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, or 2023 Nintendo games like Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – although we did get some fresh Pokemon trailer news leading up to the indie World presentation.
The independent focus makes these games an eclectic mix of cultural influences and perspectives, from southern Indian cuisine to Japanese folklore. There are also a few bigger indies in the league, like a Switch port of the critically acclaimed Inscryption and Sports Story, the sequel to the acclaimed Golf Story. Read on for a full recap of everything showcased at the Nintendo Indie World presentation.
