PlayStation reveals the most downloaded games of 2022

PlayStation gives users insights into each month’s most popular games with routine roundups of the previous month’s most downloaded games, and this week the company has upped the ante for gamers. After previously revealing December’s top games, PlayStation has now unveiled the most downloaded games of all of 2022 and while many of them are expected to be sighted, there are some surprises and interesting things to note.

The charts released by PlayStation this week split games into either PS5 or PS4 titles. That shouldn’t come as a surprise to either of them, though Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was the most popular game on both consoles in the United States. What is surprising, however, is how the charts begin to diverge once you move away from the #1 occupied by Modern warfare 2. The second most downloaded game on the PS5 was God of War Ragnarok, but the same was not true for the PS4. That #2 spot went to Grand Theft Auto V followed by Minecraft. elden ring ranked #4 on both charts, but it shows that PS4 owners sometimes preferred playing older games on this console when they could have played newer ones on the PS4 as well. God of War Ragnarokfor example, was at the bottom at #9 on the PS4 chart.
