Sony’s new PS5 ad could tease Uncharted 5

A new Sony ad meant to promote PS5 could tease Uncharted 5.

The new promo, titled Live from PS5, features a series of live-action news stories recreating scenes from various PlayStation games including God of War, Horizon, Gran Turismo and more.

However, among all the clips from current and upcoming PS5 games, one live-action clip stands out as unrecognizable.

It shows a young woman in a cave with a burning torch. In a separate short clip, she can be seen blowing dust off an ancient artifact.

The clips are the only footage not immediately recognizable, suggesting they may be from an unannounced project.

In a blog article showcasing the ad, Sony said, “This new spot hints at the breadth of extraordinary experiences taking place in the PS5 universe through the style of a live news channel. See if you can spot all the game references.”

Unknown 4 (spoiler alert) ends with Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher’s teenage daughter Cassie discovering relics of their past adventures and Drake decides to tell her about it.

As a result, some believe that the next Uncharted game could have Cassie as the protagonist and pick up where her parents left off.

Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann claimed last week that the studio had “moved on” from the Uncharted series, but that doesn’t rule out another studio taking over the IP.

And last April, a studio recruiter apparently hinted that Sony might be planning future Uncharted releases.

Christina-Marie Drake McBrearty announced that she’s joined Naughty Dog, saying there’s something special about “building future teams not just for new titles, but for the legacy of Uncharted.”

A job ad late last year also said a new in-house development team at Sony was partnering with Naughty Dog to develop a game based on “a beloved franchise.”

Other Sony-owned studios have previously developed Uncharted spin-offs or remasters, including Bend Studio (Uncharted: Golden Abyss) and Bluepoint Games (Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection).

Sony has apparently teased unannounced games in ads before. In September 2021, a new PlayStation ad featured a Resident Evil 4 icon, roughly nine months before the Resident Evil 4 remake was officially announced during a PlayStation State of Play broadcast.
