As you’re trying to think of the perfect gift for someone on your list this year, ask yourself one question: do they work from home?
Due to the pandemic, many companies have been forced to send their employees home to do their jobs. Many of these companies still allow their employees to work remotely at least a day or two per week. If anyone on your shopping list needs a home office upgrade, Christmas is a great time to find great deals on home office products.
Sitting at a desk all day is not good for your back or your health. One solution is a desk that you can sit or stand at. FlexiSpot height-adjustable bar tables can be brought from sitting to standing height in a matter of seconds at the push of a button. The desks are available in different sizes and colors. They are sturdy too. All have a USB charging port built into the desktop.
You may need a quality web camera for video conferencing. Logitech makes high-quality cameras that are easy to use.
That AnkerWerk The video bar is new and features a 2K HD camera with 4 built-in microphones, speakers and a light to enhance its appearance. The 4-in-1 video bar keeps your desk tidy with just one cable.
If it’s been a while since you’ve upgraded your computer monitor, you’ll find that a thinner, larger screen is a big help. Viewsonic loaned me a 34-inch ultra-wide curved monitor with a built-in blue light filter for easy on the eyes and HDR 10 support for watching videos. It’s breathtaking. It has speakers and can be connected to multiple computers and laptops.
Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones eliminate distractions in the home office. They are at the top Bose Quiet Comfort Headphones that block out noise even when you’re traveling on an airplane. They cost $379.
For less expensive headphones there are Anchor Life Q35 for about $100. Both sets are comfortable for hours on end and have microphones that allow them to make phone calls.
A wireless keyboard and mouse frees the desk from at least two cables. Logitech Keyboards have a slot for a smartphone and multipurpose inputs to connect a computer, phone, tablet or other laptop with the push of a button.
My favorite low-tech gift this year is this Quartet dry erase board. It’s slightly larger than the keyboard and includes a dry-erase marker. Take notes in a Zoom meeting, jot down phone numbers and delete them when you no longer need them. I bought one for about $30 and found it in stores and online.
When they want their own workspace at home, these gadgets eliminate any excuse for not being able to concentrate.
