Layoffs at Google, Microsoft, Amazon: These employees are hardest hit

Big Tech is laying off employees, affecting a number of teams. Recently a report in Times of India Gadgets Now the departments affected by the downsizing have been listed and now new details have surfaced about the people who were laid off Google.
According to a report by The informationSenior executives with annual earnings of up to $1 million were also fired from Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. At Google, laid-off employees also include those who previously received performance reviews or held managerial positions “with annual compensation packages ranging from $500,000 to $1 million.
It should be noted that last year Google introduced a new performance rating system called “Google Reviews and Development” (GRAD). The new system is believed to put low-scoring employees at greater risk of being fired from the company. Google spokesman Chris Pappas recently confirmed the GRAD system to Forbes.

Google is cutting 12,000 jobs
Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently said the company would reduce its workforce by 12,000 employees. These employees worked in departments such as Google Cloud and chrome to Android and “search-related groups among senior executives Prabhakar Raghavan“.
Google Cloud laid off staff on strategy, recruitment and go-to-market teams, according to The Information’s report. The company’s in-house research and development (R&D) department, called Area 120, was also significantly affected.
10,000 job cuts at Microsoft
Microsoft laid off 10,000 employees from departments, including its game development studios. Other cuts have impacted its mixed reality (MR) headset teams, and the company has shut down virtual reality-based social platform AltspaceVR.
Amazon headcount down by 18,000
Amazon also laid off 18,000 employees, and those job cuts affected workers in its equipment and services divisions. Amazon will also discontinue its charitable giving program, AmazonSmile.
Nearly 2,000 employees have been laid off in hardware chief Dave Limp’s department, which is home to products like Alexa and Echo smart home devices. A “significant number” of employees working on the Prime Air drone delivery project have also been affected.
