Russian scientists develop new technology for plant breeding

Skolkovo (Russia), Dec 30 (ANI/TV BRICS): Scientists at the Skoltech Agri-Technologies Design Center use the latest breeding technologies to produce plants with special properties. They produce wheat that can grow in permafrost and other forage crops that are immune to disease and pests. They grow twice as fast and can easily take root where previously unseen. For example, the guar bean plant, originally from India, is gaining popularity worldwide. The gum it contains is used in cosmetics production, the food industry and even to treat oil wells.
