5G rolls out to select iPhone users: how to enable it

Apple has started rolling out the iOS 16.2 beta update. Among other things, the software offers 5G support on select Apple iPhones, including the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14. If you own one of the devices and want to enable 5G support on your phone, read on. We bring you a step-by-step quick guide to activate Airtel and Jio 5G on your iPhone. Before proceeding, users need to note that 5G services are only available in select cities. You can only use 5G if you live in the cities where Airtel and Jio 5G services are active.

Also, to use 5G on your iPhone, you need to update your iPhone to the latest iOS 16.2 beta software. Since the update is in beta, it is only available to selected users. – Go to the Apple Beta Software Program website

– Click on the “Sign In” option on the web page.

– Next, sign in with your Apple ID and password and follow the on-screen instructions

Here’s how to install iOS 16.2 on your iPhone:

– Open the Settings app on your iPhone

– Select General and then Software update

– Download and install iOS 16.2 update on your device. Your iPhone will restart once it’s done

After downloading the 16.2 beta software to your iPhone, follow these instructions to enable 5G on your iPhone. We have to reiterate here that only iPhones 12+ come with 5G support. Only these iPhone owners can enjoy 5G on their device.

– Go to settings

– Tap on Mobile data here

Select Mobile data options and then Voice and data

– Here you will see three options – 4G On, 5G On and 5G Auto. The last option allows your device to automatically switch between the two networks based on availability.

– To enable 5G, select 5G on or 5G Auto. A brief loss of reception follows. Once restored you can now use 5G on your iPhone.
